The system allows you to use all the resources of the university at any time and practically anywhere where there is an Internet access network. The result of our work will be the creation of an integrated environment that provides the student and teacher throughout the entire study and stay on campus with modern technological solutions and facilities at the level of the world's leading universities.
- I wonder how the system of "Electronic University" works?
— At the heart of the whole system is a single integrated bus with a common database. A contactless chip integrated with a bank card becomes a single key that allows you to access all the university's resources - this is the so-called campus card, which every student and employee of the university has. The campus card provides access to all campus infrastructure facilities - from a pass to the university and making an appointment with a doctor at a medical center to printing a dissertation on a powerful printer.
The peculiarity of the system being created is that it covers absolutely all aspects of life at the university. All educational resources and "campus" services of the university are fully accessible to any student and employee who has connected to the Internet portal of the "Electronic University". Figuratively, the system allows teachers and students, "at their fingertips" to have all the information about the situation in the university.
- At what stage is the implementation of the plan now? What has already been done by the team of the Electronic University project?
- The introduction of the "Electronic University" began in 2011 with the transition to electronic document management. Today, advanced universities will not be surprised by this, but in those four universities that became part of FEFU, there was no electronic document management. Already last year in FEFU, the creation, approval, signing, control over the execution of all documents took place in electronic form. Also, a system for ordering certificates, for example, on income, through the internal portal of the campus, has already been prepared for launch. You only need to go to the accounting department to pick up the finished document.
The Anti-plagiarism module of the Blackboard integrated e-learning platform has been launched - we plan to use it to collect and check written work for plagiarism. The accounting of the contingent of students has also been launched, work is underway to enter curricula for the subsequent launch of the module for calculating the teaching load. Trial operation of subsystems has begun in terms of accounting for the results of scientific activities and objects of intellectual property. A distributed printing system has been launched: in the coming days in the educational building on the street. It would seem that all this can be placed on a university-wide site, but in this case, each category of users receives information that is intended specifically for it.
In addition, the “personal account” is also a new format of communication, an analogue of a social network. Any of the users here can organize communities by inviting new members there. Moreover, the video archive of all lectures is stored in the data center of the university, which means that the student will be able to independently listen to the course of lectures of any teacher of his choice. It is interesting that the new campus reading room will also make it possible to abandon paper “requirements”: it will be enough to find the necessary book through the “personal account” and reserve it - the next day the book will be waiting for the customer at the book lending counter.
