Modern exams are assessed not on a five-point system, but on a 100-point system. This means that there is no need to talk about the usual assessments: twos, threes, fours, fives. An exam is considered not passed if the threshold set for that exam is not passed. Moreover, this border is different for each subject. You can get an acceptable final score for yourself, but "fail" the exam, having lost the opportunity to enter a higher educational institution.

What are the primary USE scores?

Each exam has its own structure. The USE in different subjects differs in the total number of tasks, the format of the test part, the complexity of the tasks with a detailed answer. Tasks can be assessed with different numbers of points. This also applies to test tasks of different types: for the simplest of them you can get one point, for the most difficult ones - up to four or five points. These are primary scores.

Primary scores are the scores by which the student's answers are evaluated. If you can get up to two points for the correct completion of a task, these are not the two points that together with others add up to one hundred points. The number of primary points is different everywhere and depends only on the structure of the exam, but this figure is always less than one hundred. By the way, the USE in foreign languages is an exception - there is no scale for translating points and other subtleties, which means that the primary score can be considered the final one.

How many primary points in the exam in the Russian language?

The test part of the Russian language exam - 33 primary points.

The written part of the Russian language exam - 24 primary points.

There are 57 primary points in the Unified State Exam in Russian... Moreover, each point (as in any other exam of the USE format) has an equal "value". It doesn't matter in what part you earned points: when transferring to a hundred-point system, this is not taken into account.

What are secondary (test) USE scores?

It is no coincidence that a scale for translating points in the Russian language has been posted on the site. With its help, primary scores become secondary. And it happens very simply: using a special table, the primary points are converted into test points - a hundred-point system. - the document, the requirements of which should be met. The transfer of points is not done by people: the required value is calculated by a computer.

Secondary (test) scores are points in a hundred-point grading system. It is for them that the fact of passing the exam (passing the threshold) is determined. According to test scores, applicants enter universities. Secondary points are in direct proportion to the primary - the more primary points are scored, the higher the final result.

How to convert primary points to secondary points?

As mentioned above, for this you need to use. You can't do without it: a difference of one primary point can raise or lower the final grade by one or more points. It all depends on the number of primary points scored: in different parts of the table, the "price" of the primary point varies.

To obtain the maximum mark - 100 points - for the Russian language exam, you must complete all tasks without errors. This is the scale of translation. But in the mathematics exam, you may not complete all the tasks correctly, but get the highest grade.

Counting the USE results is not the easiest procedure. Let's see how your knowledge is assessed and how scaling, primary and test scores affect it.

The number of primary points differs in different subjects. Each completed USE task is estimated at 1 or more points. The sum of these points is the primary score of the examination paper. Further, a correspondence is established between the primary and test scores (in this case, the maximum test score is always 100).

The scale for translating primary points into scaled ones depends on the complexity of the tasks and the statistical analysis of the USE results for all exam participants and is calculated using a special computer program. This scale is not linear.

To make it clearer, let's figure out the basic terms.

What is scaling?

What are primary and test scores?

The primary score is the sum of the grades for completed assignments. At the same time, a correctly completed task of part A or B is estimated at 1 point, part C - up to 4 points.
The test score is a point on a 100-point scale obtained by means of special statistical processing of completed forms at the stage of final processing of the results.

Another feature of the conversion scale is that a small change in the primary score at the edges of the scale (that is, when the primary score is close to zero or to the maximum value) leads to a significant change in the test score (for example, 1 primary score corresponds to 6 test scores in all subjects, except languages), while in the middle of the scale, a change in the primary score by 1 leads to a change in the test score by 1 or 2.

Why are 60 test points awarded for 63% of completed tasks?

The percentage of correctly completed tasks is the number of correctly (partially correct) completed tasks in relation to the maximum possible score for the test. The final (test) score is a score given taking into account the difficulty of completing each task, and is determined by a specialized procedure - scaling.

How is the final score determined?

The specification for each subject indicates how many primary points are awarded for each correctly completed CMM task. When processing the examination paper, the primary scores for correctly completed tasks are summed up. Conversion to test scores is carried out by a special program using an approved scaling technique.

How many days are examination papers checked?

The check and processing of the USE forms in the Russian language and mathematics in the region should be completed no later than 6 days later, and for other subjects - 4 days after the corresponding exam.

How many days are exam papers in the Russian language checked?

The regional information processing center must complete the processing of USE forms in Russian language and mathematics no later than 6 days after the corresponding exam. The timing depends on the size of the subject of the Federation, the presence of remote areas, the number of participants. Another 2 days of work are checked at the federal level. Thus, information about the results in the Russian language is communicated to the USE participants, as a rule, after 8-10 days.

When is the minimum number of points announced?

Rosobrnadzor announces the minimum number of USE points in each general education subject 6-10 days after the USE.

How many points do you need to score in the Russian language to get a "three"?

The minimum threshold confirming the successful passing of the exam was 40 points in 2008, and 37 points in 2009. In accordance with the current regulatory framework, since 2009, the transfer of USE scores to a five-point assessment system has not been carried out to mark the certificate.

What if you didn't get your marks in Russian or mathematics?

For a graduate to obtain a certificate, the results of the exam in the Russian language and mathematics are important. Annually, during the main period of the USE (in May-June), after all USE participants have passed the exam in the subject, Rosobrnadzor sets the minimum number of points. If you have achieved it, you will receive a certificate. If a graduate does not gain the required minimum in one subject, then it can be retaken on reserve days (see). If the results are low both in Russian and in mathematics, a certificate is not issued. Such a graduate receives a certificate. He can retake exams and get a certificate only next year.

When will the individual USE results be known?

The terms and procedure for familiarization with the results of the exam are determined by the educational management body of the region, while it is established that the results of the exam must be communicated to the participants of the exam:

 • within the main terms no later than 3 working days from the date of the issuance of the Rosobrnadzor order on establishing the minimum number of points in the relevant general education subject
 • in additional terms - within 3 days after the approval of the protocols of the results of the USE GEC.

Where can I find out the results of the exam?

A graduate of the current year will find out the results of the USE at his school, other USE participants - in the PPE or in another way, which is established in each region by the educational authority. Information on the results of the exam is provided free of charge!

Are the USE scores converted to 5-point grades?

In accordance with the current regulatory framework, since 2009, the transfer of USE scores to a five-point assessment system has not been carried out. When conducting the exam, a hundred-point assessment system is used. It is envisaged to establish a minimum number of USE scores (minimum threshold) for each general education subject, confirming the mastering of the main programs of secondary (complete) general education by the graduate.

What is the maximum number of points?

The USE results are assessed on a 100-point system. The maximum number of points in each subject is 100.

Will the USE results be posted on the Internet?

The publication of the USE results at the federal level was tested during the experiment. Now, according to the current regulatory legal documents, the constituent entities of the Russian Federation are responsible for informing USE participants about the results. In some regions, it has been decided to post the results of the exam on the Internet. In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, such a decision has not yet been made.

We will be announced the number of points received, but how can you look at your work?

You can see your work when considering an appeal on disagreement with the points set. The Conflict Commission asks the RSCI for printed images of the examination work of the graduate who filed the appeal, which are then presented to the USE participant. Examination papers completed by the USE participants are stored in the regional information processing center (RCOI).

What does it mean "to get information about the results of the exam"?

This means finding out the points you earned on the exam. Local governments of the constituent entity of the Russian Federation are responsible for notifying the USE participants about the results of passing the exams. The communication scheme should be communicated to the participants in advance. A graduate of the current year will find out the results of the USE in his school, other USE participants - in the PPE or in another way, which is established by the educational management body in each region. This usually happens within 6-10 days after passing the exam.

In preparing the article, materials from the official information portal of the Unified State Exam were used

The system for evaluating the USE results is not easy: instead of the usual "fours" and "fives" you will face primary and test scores... What is primary and test score is easy to understand. It is much more difficult to understand how the primary scores are translated into test scores.

Primary and test score of the exam: definitions

Primary score - this is preliminary USE score... The primary score is obtained by summing the marks for correctly completed assignments. For example, a correctly completed task of Part A or Part B is estimated at 1 point, Part C - up to 6 points. The maximum number of primary points for all tasks of control measuring materials (CMM) in various subjects ranges from 39 to 80 points.

Test score - this is final USE score... It is obtained from the primary using a special table. Each year, for each subject, its own special table is compiled.

Example:in 2013, the graduate received a primary score of 35 on the USE in history. According to the table, his test score will be 58 / And his deskmate, passing the same story, received one primary point more - 36. His test score according to the table will already be 60.

The number of test points to strive for should be above the minimum established on the subject. But, as a rule, graduates who are going to get higher education know in advance how many test points you need to get to enter the university for the chosen specialty, since universities publish this information.

Converting primary scores to test scores

As we said, there are tables for converting primary scores into test scores... The Unified State Exam assessment system is such that even knowing his primary score, a graduate will not be able to independently accurately determine his test score, since new tables are drawn up every year. It takes 6-8 days to transfer primary points to test points.

However, in fairness, it should be noted that the tables of different years are not very different: in some subjects the number of test points remains the same, in some it changes by 2-3.

For an objective assessment of the level of work performed by each USE participant, in comparison with other participants in the exam, a special method of scaling the USE results is used.

It was developed by leading Russian experts in the field of pedagogical measurements based on internationally recognized test models.

What is the essence of the scaling procedure?

When conducting the exam, many graduates from different educational institutions take part in the exam. They do not have the same level of training and perform a variety of options for control and measurement materials (CMM). In this regard, the question arises of how to objectively assess and, most importantly, compare the level of their preparedness, because all graduates have equal rights when passing final exams and when entering a university or college?

In the list of USE terms, there are the concepts of "primary score" and "test score".

Primary score - This is a preliminary USE score, which is obtained by directly summing the number of correct answers, each of which has a certain coefficient. Each completed USE task is evaluated by the number of points from 1 to 6. The maximum number of primary points for all CMM tasks in various subjects ranges from 37 to 80. Primary USE scores are converted into test scores using the scaling technique.

Test points - final scores based on the USE results, which are set on a 100-point scale as a result of a scaling procedure that takes into account all statistical materials obtained as part of the USE of a given year. Test scores differ from primary scores.

Scaling - this is the procedure for converting primary points into test points, the process of forming the rules for assigning test points based on the results of examinations based on statistical data.

In the method of scaling the USE results, used in 2012, a phased establishment of the correspondence between test and primary scores for each general educational subject for which the USE is held is implemented.

Stage I

First, in the range of primary scores from zero to the maximum primary score PBmax for each general education subject of the USE, two values of primary points are selected: PB1 and PB2, separating the groups of participants with different levels of training in this subject.

The value of PB1 is chosen as the lowest primary score, the receipt of which indicates the mastering by the exam participant of the basic concepts and methods in the corresponding general education subject. It is determined on the basis of an examination of the demonstration version on a given general education subject by specialists of general education, colleges and universities of various profiles from different constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The examination is carried out taking into account the level of complexity of each task and the significance of the content, skill, skill, method of activity being tested by it in the context of a general educational subject. At the same time, the requirements for the PB1 value correspond to the requirements that were used in determining the PB1 of the last year (to ensure the equivalence of the scales of two years).

The PB2 value is defined by the professional community as the lowest primary score, the receipt of which indicates a high level of preparation of the exam participant, namely, the presence of systemic knowledge, mastery of complex skills, the ability to perform creative tasks in the relevant general educational subject.

If the specification of the examination option has not changed compared to last year, then PB1 and PB2 also remain unchanged. If the structure of the examination work or the complexity of the tasks of the control measuring materials have changed, then new values of PB1 and PB2 are set taking into account the existing changes.

II stage

The primary scores PB1 and PB2 are assigned test scores TB1 and TB2 for each general education subject.

For mathematics and the Russian language (compulsory subjects for passing the Unified State Exam), the TB1 values are the minimum test scores of the 2012 Unified State Exam established by the orders of Rosobrnadzor: mathematics - 24, Russian - 36. These values coincide with the minimum USE scores in 2011 in mathematics and the Russian language, respectively.

Test scores TB2 for the Russian language and mathematics, as well as test scores TB1 and TB2 for other general education subjects (optional subjects) are set equal to the same points in 2011. Table 1 shows the values of PB1 and PB2, TB1 and TB2 for 2012.

It should be emphasized that the minimum test scores indicating the mastery of the school course in elective subjects are established by Rosobrnadzor after the main exam and statistical data on the 2012 USE versions used and in some subjects may not coincide with TB1.

Stage III

For each general education subject, the correspondence between the primary score and the test score is determined based on the following procedure. The primary score of 0 is assigned a test score of 0, and the maximum primary score of PBmax is assigned a test score of 100. All intermediate primary points between 0, PB1, PB2 and PBmax are converted to test, proportionally distributed between the corresponding values of test points: 0, TB1, TB2 and 100. Figure 1 shows the resulting dependence.

Figure: 1. Correspondence between test and primary scores

If the intermediate primary scores correspond to the fractional test scores, then the test score is rounded to the nearest larger integer.

This procedure allows you to agree on the test scores of equally trained participants in 2011 and 2012. and ensures comparative comparability of exam results over the years.
