Already in adolescence, an initial understanding of life values, certain priorities, to which a person, on a voluntary basis, seeks to subordinate his own existence, takes place. The list of life values is formed as a result of mistakes, trials, environmental conditions, ideas suggested by any circumstances.

What are the life values of a modern person?

It should be learned that having formed certain rules, a person submits to them his further aspirations. Therefore, the list of existing rules largely depends on how relationships with people will develop and a career will be built.

If you follow the change in ethical standards, you will notice that today's youth life values are strikingly different from the priorities of the older generation.

For example, qualities such as disinterestedness, patriotism, a sense of duty are gradually replaced by the desire for career growth, economic stability, independence, freedom in actions and thoughts. Should young people be condemned for dramatic changes in thinking?

The change in the political situation could not pass unnoticed. Currently, the formation of personality, and, consequently, aspirations, takes place in accordance with other principles, which are based on commodity-money relations.

Nevertheless, even if the sphere of priorities lies in the area of economic success, for most people, “eternal” values in life are still leading:

 • a family;
 • love;
 • liberty;
 • health;
 • success.

Naturally, for each person, some priorities will be higher. It is their implementation that becomes the basis, both in personal relationships and in a career. For example, if a person values his own health the most, it is difficult to expect that he will devote all his time to solving professional problems.

A careerist is often unable to appreciate love, since in order to achieve a set goal, he is able to step over any feeling. A person who prefers freedom is unlikely to bind himself with family relations, since he values his comfort and independence above the responsibilities that arise when creating a family.

Can a person's life values change?

Indeed, is it possible or not to change priorities under the influence of environmental conditions or an internal rethinking of one's existence?

There was a time when a change in the system of human life values was considered a betrayal in relation to their own ideals. Literature knows many examples when the inner torment of the hero is caused by doubts about the correctness of aspirations. Do I need to punish myself if the basic values in life began to seem wrong?

Such torment is not typical of young people, which sometimes causes hostility on the part of their parents. But what right does older generation to condemn the morality of today's youth?

In many ways, the foundation of impermanence was laid under the careful guidance of relatives. In addition, no one person is able to determine priorities of their own accord. A system that significantly affects character is formed exclusively under the influence of external conditions.

Of decisive importance are:

 • the actions of loved ones, whom the teenager watched from childhood;
 • material conditions;
 • the possibility of personal development;
 • the environment in which personal growth occurs;
 • the presence of authority and a tendency to imitate;
 • inability to make independent decisions.

The list is endless. Throughout life, factors arise that can change a person's view of things and, thereby, lead to a change in previously valuable attitudes.

For example, a person who constantly cares about relatives realizes that constant guardianship hinders their development and conflicts with their own interests. The careerist is clearly aware that the desire to occupy the highest position in the service hierarchy leads to emotional callousness. The freedom-loving individual reads to feel melancholy and mental loneliness.

It is necessary to understand that at some stage the most important becomes an obstacle, a kind of barrier limiting opportunities.

How to change vital priorities

The system should not be unchanged, it is necessary to make timely adjustments to make life full and filled with truly positive events.

To do this, it is enough to carefully analyze your emotions:

 • You need to understand what is most expensive at the moment, what actions do not lead to feelings of guilt and do not leave unpleasant memories. In this case, the values should be placed in a gradual decreasing order;
 • This will make it possible to find out what influences a person's life today, what he strives for, what idea he subordinates his behavior to;
 • After that, you should imagine what you really want to achieve? Which list best reflects your dreams? Like last time, write down the values, preferably in descending order.
 • It remains to compare both lists and analyze what values make the dream unattainable. These are the ones that should be changed in the first place.

A really happy person is the one who completely matches the top lines of both lists. We can say that in his life he achieved harmony, intelligently regulating desires with opportunities and making every effort to achieve a result.

Hello everyone! The values of life are practically the foundation of a person's personality, its core and support. Remember the saying: "Tell me who your friend is, and I will tell you who you are"? This is exactly how you can characterize anyone, having learned what is most important to him, what he aspires to and longs for.

Role and significance in human life

Values help us make decisions and choose the path we want to take. Or rather, they define it. Because, thanks to them, we are guided in this world, and we understand what should be done and what is better not. Otherwise, it will not work to satisfy needs and realize dreams. They often give us. They bring stability and confidence in a successful future. The main thing is to refrain from starting to impose them on others, otherwise they will be transformed into ideology. And this does not always bode well.

They are the ones who inspire, motivate and empower us to achieve. Because a person who knows exactly what he wants and firmly believes in the correctness of the chosen path cannot be stopped. It can be argued without a shadow of doubt that they help to find the meaning of their existence. They shape character and help create close, deep connections with people who are similar in their prioritization. Agree, it is very difficult to be close to someone who devalues. Or does not understand at all the importance of some processes that are significant for the interlocutor or partner.

They also allow you to form beliefs and a clear position regarding political and, in principle, social issues. Build self-esteem. They are guided in society, in the form of norms and rules of behavior.

Classification

In addition to material and spiritual, professor of psychology and pedagogy, Philip Lersh, identified three main types:

Vital

These are our passions, hobbies, desires and feelings. To put it simply - the way and lifestyle. For some, the most important thing is quality rest, which is why he tries to get pleasure and satisfaction from travel as often as possible. And for someone it is more important to invest in material things, rejoicing in the replenishment of the collection of stamps or figurines.

Self-worth

This category is more typical for individuals who strive to realize themselves, achieve heights and success, gaining recognition and respect of others. Why all resources and free time are directed to work. An example is inveterate careerists who strive to come to power at all costs and so on.

Semantic

Based on the name, one can understand that they give meaning and meaning to actions, desires, dreams. This is the desire for creativity, the search for something ideal and perfect. Sincere impulses to serve the good of society and help those who need help.

7 core values

A person is in a continuous process of development, except in cases of degradation. He is completely different at different stages of his life. That is why there is a constant change of values.

For example, there are often cases when successful businessmen left their business, sold houses, cars and went to live in deserted places. To connect with nature and feel the pleasure of life. Their system of priorities was completely changed, old stereotypes and aspirations "disappeared", and new ones were developed. They were aware of their problem and strove to fix it, to fill the wasted years. And sometimes, and vice versa, the world received geniuses and just creative personalitieswho are satiated with solitude and hungry for communication.

So, despite the fact that everyone has their own views on the world and needs, there are still areas that in no case can be ignored. So as in the previous examples, not to go to extremes. So, the main values:

Health

In the first place, since it is quite difficult to do without it, and sometimes impossible. Agree, without pain and any physical limitations, it is much easier to realize your goals and dreams. Wellness is the best companion on the road to success. A surge of strength, cheerfulness and energy - isn't that what most of us dream about?

Therefore, it is important to play sports, consult a doctor on time and undergo periodic examinations to make sure that the state of the body is normal, or to anticipate the onset of any disease. Listen to the sensations in the body, follow your desires and tie with any kind of addiction. After all, as they say, in a healthy body there is a healthy mind.

If you don't know where to start, it doesn't matter. Recommendations on how to lead correctly healthy image life, so that it is useful and enjoyable, and does not consist of only restrictions, you will receive by clicking on.

Spirituality

Spirituality is quite multifaceted, and consists of faith, ethics, inner balance and harmony with the surrounding world, nature, understanding the meaning of life and one's purpose. And also affects the moral side of the person. All this taken together helps to feel happiness, to understand what actions are worth doing and what not. To cope with difficulties, because what if not faith gives us strength and motivation to act and move on, no matter what? It is very important to develop spirituality in yourself, and you will learn how to do this.

Proximity

It is important to receive it both in friendly relations, and in family. Communication is in fact our most important need, after, of course, physiological. To continue your family, to feel support and support behind your back, to know that there are comrades-in-arms and in general people who are not indifferent to you is really valuable.

Many, not getting intimacy, try to replace it with material things, which give the illusion that, in principle, one can live without love. But in fact, the saturation and satisfaction from this are superficial and short-lived. Nothing can fully replace contact with another person, healthy and full of feelings.

Financial position

Financial independence provides a person with comfort, tranquility, stability, and sometimes health. Each of us simply must be able to plan expenses, have a passive type of income and avoid falling into a debt trap. Otherwise, anxiety, stress and poor health will be constant companions.

Thanks to money, we can purchase quality products, equip our life so that it is comfortable. Travel the world, expanding the horizons and boundaries of consciousness, learn new things and more. The problem arises when a person tries to replace all other needs with money directly, ignoring relationships, rest, hobbies. Therefore, take on board and start to improve your financial situation.

Career

The realization of one's ambitions and abilities is sometimes vital, as it allows one to gain recognition from colleagues, relatives, and society as a whole. Achieving career success and professional competence, a person experiences self-esteem, and this has a beneficial effect on his self-esteem.

This includes not only professional activitybut also charity. Helping others is the best way to increase self-worth, and to some also gives an understanding of their purpose.

Relaxation

Getting good quality rest is important to get inspired and energized. And believe me, not everyone is capable of this. Life troubles and grandiose plans are sometimes so addictive that a person is afraid to relax even for a minute. Lazing in front of the TV or playing computer games and on social networks actually takes time and does not allow you to sufficiently recuperate your strength and resources.

To get new emotions, you need to change your usual way of life. The culture of modern society promotes a whole host of entertainment and opportunities to qualitatively relax, try new things for yourself. So take a moment and spend your holidays and weekends in pleasure, without reproaching yourself for laziness.

Self-development

There is no limit to perfection, and, despite the level of your development, there is always something that you can still learn. Get to know not only the world around you, but also your inner structure, so to speak, the personality structure. You are constantly changing, and it is very important to notice the slightest changes in order to know how to treat yourself, build relationships with others, and also advance in your career.

Conclusion

To understand which area requires your urgent attention, I want to offer you an interesting method called the "Wheel of balance". It will help you see a holistic picture of your problem areas and vice versa, the benefits. You can view it by clicking.

What is a sense of life? What is truly valuable in life? What is my Purpose?

These are the main questions we are trying to answer.

Probably the answers to these questions are known to people who in their lives have come face to face with their death.

Reading about people who have learned that they will die very soon, or those who have experienced clinical death, you will learn that they have changed their life priorities.

I found interesting "research" on the Internet. Here are collected data on "what they regret before death". There are thoughts of great sages about this. And this is a list of five true values in the life of every person.

"If not for my illness, then I would never have thought about how wonderful life is." (Randy Pausch "The Last Lecture") .

1. IDENTITY

Everything in life has a purpose. Every living creature on the planet has its own mission. And each of us has a role to play. By realizing our unique talents and abilities, we gain happiness and wealth. The path to our uniqueness and mission lies through our desires and dreams since childhood.

"Individuality is the highest value in the world" (Osho).

One woman (Bronnie Vee) worked for many years in a hospice, where her task was to alleviate the mental state of dying patients. From her observations, she revealed that the most common regret people have before death is regret that they did not have the courage to live the life that was right for them, and not the life that others expected of them. Her patients regretted that they never realized many of their dreams. And only at the end of the journey did they realize that this was only a consequence of their choice that they made.

Make a list of your talents and abilities, as well as a list of your favorite things in which they are expressed. This is how you will find your unique talents. Use them to serve others. To do this, ask yourself as often as possible: “How can I be useful (to the world, to the people I come into contact with)?How can I serve

Feel free to quit your unloved job! Do not be afraid of poverty, failure and mistakes! Trust yourself and don't worry about the opinions of others. Always believe that God will take care of you. It is better to take a chance once than to regret later that you have lived a gray and mediocre life, "killing yourself" at the same time at an unloved job to the detriment of yourself and your loved ones.

Always remember that you are unique and your mission is to give the world the most of your uniqueness. Only then will you find true happiness. This is what God intended.

"Discover your divinity, find your unique talent, and you can create any wealth you want." (Deepak Chopra).

2. SELF-DISCLOSURE AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH

Stop being an animal! ..

Of course, we need to satisfy physiological needs, but only in order to develop spiritually. People mainly chase after material well-being and are concerned, first of all, with things, and not with the soul. Then, as the primary meaning and purpose human life consists in realizing that he is a spiritual being and, in fact, does not need anything material.

“We are not human beings with spiritual experiences from time to time. We are spiritual beings who receive human experience from time to time. "(Deepak Chopra).

Realize God within yourself. Man is a transitional being from animal to spiritual. And each of us has the resources to make this transition. Practice the state of “Being” more often, when you have no thoughts and you do not need anything, when you just feel life and enjoy its fullness. The state of "here and now" is already a spiritual experience.

“There are people among us - not many, but there are - who understand that it is necessary to start saving money for old age while it is still far away, so that a certain amount can be accumulated ... So why not take care of what is more important at the same time money - about the soul? "(Eugene O'Kelly, Chasing the Escaping Light »).

And there is no need to improve yourself, you are already perfect, because you are spiritual beings. Do self-disclosure ...

« Knowing yourself as best as possible in order to be as big as possible for the world is the most important task of a person» (Robin Sharma).

Even when you achieve goals, true success is not associated with achievement, but with those changes in consciousness that have occurred as an inevitable consequence of your progress towards these goals. It's not about achieving goals, but what happens to you in the process of achieving it.

3. OPENNESS

How often, in the face of death, people regret not having the courage to express love to their loved ones! They regret that they often suppressed their emotions and feelings because they were afraid of the reactions of others. They regret not allowing themselves to be happier. Only at the end of the journey did they realize that being happy or not is a matter of choice. Every moment we choose a reaction to this or that situation, and each time interprets events in its own way. Be carefull! Keep track of your choice every moment ...

« What goes around comes around» (folk wisdom).

What needs to be done to become more open?

1) Unleash your emotions and feelings.

Take a ride on the coolest attraction and shout at your pleasure; share your feelings with other people; become an optimist - rejoice, laugh, be merry, no matter what.

2) Accept yourself and life as it is.

Allow yourself to be who you are, and events happen by themselves. Your task is to dream, move and observe what miracles life brings you. And if something does not turn out the way you wanted, then it will be even better. Just relax and have fun.

« I'm dying and having fun. And I'm going to have fun every day I have» (Randy Pausch "The Last Lecture").

4. LOVE

Sadly, many people only in the face of death realize how little love was in their life, how little they rejoiced and enjoyed the simple joys of life. The world has presented us with so many miracles! But we're too busy. We cannot take our eyes off our plans and pressing problems in order to look at these gifts and enjoy them.

“Love is food for the soul. Love for the soul is the same as food for the body. Without food, the body is weak, without love, the soul is weak " (Osho).

The best way to raise a wave of love in your body is through gratitude. Begin to thank God for everything that he presents to you every moment: for this food and a roof over your head; for this communication; for this clear sky; for everything you see and get. And when you find yourself annoyed, immediately ask yourself: “ Why should I be grateful now? " The answer will come from the heart, and believe me, it will inspire you.

Love is the energy from which the world is woven. Become a missionary of love! Give compliments to people; charge everything you touch with love; give more than you receive ... and move through life from your heart, not your head. It is it that will tell you the right way.

“A path without a heart is never joyful. Already in order to reach it, you have to work hard. On the contrary, the path that has a heart is always easy; it doesn't take much effort to love him "(Carlos Castaneda).

5. RELATIONSHIP

When life goes by and in everyday worries we often lose sight of our family and friends, at the end of the path we will feel desolation, deep sadness and longing ...

Spend time with those you love and value as often as possible. They are the most precious thing you have. Always be open to communication and new acquaintances, it is enriching. As often as possible, give people your attention and admiration for them - all this will return to you. Help with joy and selflessness, give and just as gladly accept gifts from others.

“Bliss is also contagious, like any disease. If you help others to be happy, by and large you help to be happy for yourself. "(Osho).

So what will you regret at the end of your journey?

Hello dear friends!

Every person living on the blue planet has the same list of important things to do every day. Some of them are familiar, banal and even everyday. Others are subject to completely different laws.

Each new day greets with new circumstances and rules of the game, which is able to wipe out the already shaky nerves. When difficulties arise, the vital values of a person are of great importance, which safely serve him as a kind of reference point in the Universal space of choice and decisions.

The value system helps to qualitatively answer the question: "Am I going there?", "Have I chosen the right path for my full-scale implementation?"

By understanding the essence of your beliefs and attitudes, it is much easier to overcome the difficulties that have arisen. People know that making sure they are on the right track will keep them on track.

When the statements, and most importantly the actions of the individual, are in complete harmony with life values, then all aspects of the manifestations become more massive and much more interesting, and therefore, we are satisfied with ourselves.

But when words and behavior diverge from the truths learned by the subconscious, then at the same moment an uncomfortable and "scratching" feeling arises in the soul, as if irritation and panic will burst from the inside in a few minutes!

This inner feeling reminds the person that things have gone wrong. Moreover, the constant presence in such a depressed state is fraught with huge problems not only with the psyche, but also with health!

Only in the case of unshakable faith in values close in spirit, a person will be able to maintain the required level of self-esteem, confidence and simple, human happiness. But how can one determine the correct source of axioms?

Determining the main criteria

The main task of an individual is to isolate a list of values as early as possible, which is fundamental. This urgency is due to the fact that having made such a step, a person begins to more effectively form not only his character, but also his actions and long-term plans.

It should be understood that there are no universal laws applicable to the general public. We are all different and it is precisely because of this that the significant landmarks of one will always be at odds with the truths of the other, and the fifth or seventh will simply not consider it important.

And yet, what are the criteria for selection? I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the most common aspects of choice, which to one degree or another, but has a special attitude towards itself.

1. Her Majesty Love

This is perhaps the most well-known truth for women. And it's not about romance or a candlelit dinner. The question is not about dating, family, or the "candy-bouquet" period.

Each of us is able to experience this inspiring feeling. And you can see this in relation to family, friends or work. But now I am focusing your attention on the manifestation of love for other people, for those with whom you may never be able to meet.

Universal love for one's own kind, and sometimes for the whole family, is capable of fostering tolerance, tolerance and compassion in a person. And when, nevertheless, we come to him, we open an amazing facet of pure goodness, and not continuous negative qualities.

2. Deep understanding

We need to be understood and heard. Think about how many of us can be tormented by anger or anger simply because there is no desire to delve into other people's troubles?

By accepting the introductory circumstances and data, reconciling and understanding others, you can get not only complete control of the situation that has arisen, but also find a special approach to solving it.

3. Respect

This is one of the most important selection criteria. Like most deep-seated personal values, this one has its own unique niche. Acting under the auspices of such a respectful motto, you can achieve unrealistic heights.

Perhaps, respect applies to many aspects of the life of an ordinary person. It manifests itself in personal relationships, in a work environment and, of course, when communicating with your “I” and needs.

4. Iron discipline

Many people confuse the term with a tedious routine and a banal execution of a mechanical routine. But in reality, discipline closely borders not only punctuality, but also a respectful attitude towards other people's time.

So, the habit of bringing things to a logical conclusion, adhering to the rules woven by themselves, the individual characterizes himself as an educated, responsible person.

5. Honesty and fairness

Wishing to be a worthy reason to be proud of their own actions, an individual can make a choice towards this amazing value, which will serve him for many years with faith and support.

The fact is that honest people do not tolerate hypocrisy, rudeness, deception and many negative qualities that persistently strive to flash in thoughts.

Moreover, the definition of justice as the fundamental leitmotif in life allows us to erect others on the same solid foundation.

I can endlessly sort through the layers of human "diamonds", which with their light help to walk around the world, receiving support. This list of basic criteria and values can safely include optimism, without which it is difficult to climb up, and patience, which helps to achieve more, and friendship, and forgiveness, and especially gratitude.

All our values are a kind of compass that allows us to navigate the world's oceans of events with an invincible ship. The initial list of those can be up to ten. But it is very important to be able to conduct a detailed analysis, leaving no more than 6. Do you have problems with your income level or relationships?

This happens because the model or picture of the internal world, unfortunately, does not coincide with the external. Is it especially difficult for you to make decisions? It's all about the lack of clear guidance and an answer to the question: "What do I really want?"

Only by following the whisper of life guidelines, a person will allow himself to live fully and consciously. When you have crystallized attitudes in your head, it is much easier to get support, regardless of the circumstances overboard. So, what can be called the core values in life?

Chief among the main

A psychologically and physically healthy person can afford to form 3 main circles of "truths", gradually adding "especially personal" ones to it.

1. Relationships and personal life

The most powerful message of a thrifty, respectful attitude towards loved ones is hidden here. The desire to start a family, have children and live a happy, family life.

We can say that these are the values of inner joy from a partner, romance, entertainment and a colossal charge of energy through travel.

2. Work, life's work, purely business

Why do you go to work? What do you get in return? And most importantly, does it suit you? The desire to become better, earn more and strive to conquer career heights, along with the words "home, everyday life and ideal comfort" are combined here together. Such value helps to move towards obtaining a new status, power and an increase in the level of self-esteem.

I mean, there is a hidden desire to work hard in order to get to the top of your Everest! This is a value that is directly related to ideas, plans and indirectly clings to the next point.

3. Comprehensive self-development

The main task is to know the inner world and tame the outer one, shouting: "Here I am!" It is impossible to build a good business without certain skills and knowledge. Therefore, the value of this order is aimed at accumulative, invisible wealth that helps a person develop the skill in which he sees himself.

Do not forget about spiritual practices that work with completely different vibrations, carrying with them a powerful charge of energies.

Friends, this is where I end my reflection today. Subscribe to updates, and in the comments share your opinion on the topic of the material.

See you on the blog, bye-bye!

Human values are an extremely urgent issue. They are well known to all of us. But hardly anyone tried to define them clearly for themselves. Our article is dedicated to just this: awareness of modern values.

Definition

Value is something that a person is consciously or unconsciously drawn to, that meets his needs. Of course, people are all different, which means that human values are also highly individual, but one way or another there are common moral guidelines: goodness, beauty, truth, happiness.

Positive and negative values of modern man

It is clear to everyone that it is okay to strive for happiness (eudaimonism) or pleasure (hedonism). Now this is even more understandable than, for example, 100 or 200 years ago. Despite the fact that office workers certainly get tired at work, life is now much easier than that of our grandparents. Russia is still shaken by various crises, but still these are not wars, not besieged Leningrad and other horrors that the mad twentieth century awarded history.

Our contemporary may well say, looking back at history: "I am tired of suffering, I want to enjoy." Of course, here he does not mean himself, but a person as a generic essence, embodied in different bodily shells from ancient times to the present day.

Therefore, the actual reality, perhaps more than all other historical realities, sets him up for the pursuit of happiness and pleasure (positive values of a person) and escape from suffering and pain (negative constants of his being). We have the joy (albeit of a very dubious quality) - to observe how the classical ethical triad "goodness, beauty, truth" gives way to such landmarks of human existence as money, success, happiness, pleasure. It is difficult to assemble them into some kind of structure, but if you try, then happiness and pleasure will definitely be at the top, money at the bottom, and everything else in between.

The time has come to talk about such a concept as "human value system".

Religious values

It is clear to sane people that the world is capitalist, i.e. one where everything or almost everything is decided by money is not eternal and not unique, and the order of values that is offered to them is not universal. Also, it is almost self-evident that the natural opposition is a religious interpretation of reality, which is subject to moral and spiritual laws. By the way, the eternal duality of being between its spiritual and material aspects does not allow a person to lose his humanistic essence. That is why the spiritual values of a person are so important for his moral self-preservation.

Christ as the initiator of a spiritual revolution

Why was Christ a revolutionary? He did a lot to deserve so much honorary title, but the main thing in the context of our article is that he said: "The latter will be the first, and the former will be the last."

Thus, he overturned the entire structure, which is called the "human value system". Before him (as now), it was believed that wealth, fame and other delights of a soulless life are precisely the highest goals of human existence. And the Messiah came and said to wealthy people: "It is difficult for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven." And they thought that they had already bought everything for themselves, but no.

Jesus grieved them, and the poor, the unfortunate, and the disadvantaged had some hope. Some of the readers who do not believe in paradise too much will say: "But how can the goodness promised after death redeem the existing suffering in the earthly existence of man?" Dear reader, we completely agree with you. Future happiness is a weak consolation, but Christ gave the losers of this world hope and charged them with strength to fight against his unenviable fate. In other words, the values of a person, the values of an individual have become different and have gained variability.

Vertical world

In addition, Christianity made the world vertical, i.e. all earthly values are now recognized as low and unimportant. The main thing is spiritual self-improvement and union with God. Of course, a person will still pay dearly for his spiritual aspirations in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance, but all the same, the feat of Jesus is extremely significant even outside the religious context, because the prophet showed by sacrificing his life that other values are also possible in a person's life. which harmoniously add up to the system.

Variations of value systems

From the previous section it became clear that the system of human aspirations can be completely different. It all depends only on what the individual or group is focused on. There is, for example, a sociologizing approach to this issue: the vertical of the meaningful is built from the highest to the lowest in accordance with the interests of the collective. The latter can mean both individual groups and society as a whole. And we know those periods when some peoples put the collective above the individual. This reasoning fits perfectly with the topic of "The values of man and society."

Individualization

The individualized world has its own priorities and its own understanding of the higher and the lower. We can observe them in our contemporary reality: material well-being, personal happiness, more pleasure and less suffering. Obviously, this is a rough sketch of significant human landmarks, but one way or another, each of us gets into this picture. Ascetics are not enough now.

Formal and real values

If someone asks what role values play in a person's life, it is difficult to answer this question. It is one thing what a person says, and another thing what he does, i.e. the difference between formal and real semantic priorities. For example, in Russia many consider themselves to be believers. Temples are being built. Soon each courtyard will have its own church, so that devout people will not go far. But there is little sense in this, because, as the bishop from the third part of the movie The Godfather says to the protagonist of the film: “Christianity has surrounded man for 2000 years, but it has not penetrated inside”. In fact, most people perceive religious precepts as conditional and are not particularly concerned with the problem of sin. It is also strange that, thinking about God, believers completely forget about their neighbors, i.e. human social values are in a sense in the corral. Naturally, in such a situation it is difficult to talk about true faith.

Pitirim Sorokin and his value periodization of cultures

The famous sociologist and public figure P. Sorokin based his typology of cultures on nothing more than values. He quite rightly believed that each culture has its own face, its own personality, which stems from a guiding principle or idea. The scientist divided all cultures into three types.

 1. Idiational - when religious beliefs prevail over material goods and such a dominant attitude determines the values and norms of a person and culture as a whole. This is reflected in architecture, philosophy, literature, social ideals. For example, during the European Middle Ages, a saint, a hermit or an ascetic was considered the canon of man.
 2. Sensual type of culture. The most striking example is, of course, the Renaissance. Religious values are not just violated, they are actually canceled. God begins to be perceived as a source of pleasure. Man becomes the measure of all things. Strangled in the Middle Ages, sensuality wants to reveal and express itself to the full extent of its capabilities. This is where the famous moral collisions of the Renaissance arise, when a significant cultural upsurge coexists with a fantastic moral decline.
 3. Idealistic or mixed style. In this model of culture, material and spiritual ideals and aspirations of a person find agreement, but the primacy of the latter over the former is affirmed. Orientation to high moral ideals helps a person to live the smallest in the material sense and believe in spiritual self-improvement.

In this construction of P. Sorokin there are no extremes of the two previous types, but there is also one significant drawback: it is impossible to choose real example such a culture. We can only say that this is how people live who have found themselves in extremely difficult life circumstances (illness, poverty, natural disasters, poor quarters of countries around the world). Beggars and disabled people willingly have to minimize their bodily needs and keep a high moral ideal before their eyes. For them, this is an indispensable condition for survival and existence within a certain moral framework.

Such was the article, which focused on the cultural values of a person. We hope that it will help the reader to understand this difficult and at the same time extremely interesting topic.
