Charles Perrault can be called one of the favorite storytellers of all time. After all, such wonderful and magical fairy tales as "Cinderella", "Sleeping Beauty", "Little Red Riding Hood", "Puss in Boots" and many others belong to him. But today we will talk about another wonderful story written by Charles Perrault - "Donkey's Skin". We propose to briefly familiarize yourself with the content of this tale, based on which several films were shot - in 1970 in France, with Catherine Deneuve and Jean Marais in the lead roles, and in 1982 in the USSR, with Vera Novikova, Alexander Galibin, Vladimir Etush and others famous actors.

So, the fairy tale "Donkey Skin" begins with the fact that in one kingdom there lived a king. He was immensely kind and happy, because his wife was the most beautiful woman in the world, and their only daughter was hardly inferior to her mother in beauty and virtue. The kingdom flourished thanks to wise government. But still not only him, because in one of the stables there lived an old donkey, which had a wonderful property - to defecate with gold.

One day a misfortune happened - the queen fell seriously ill and soon died. But before she died, she managed to express her last wish. She wanted her husband to marry again, but the main condition was that his chosen one was more beautiful than the queen herself. No matter how many then they looked for a new wife for the widower, they did not find it. But one day he saw in the garden his own daughter, who surpassed her mother in beauty, and, having fallen in love with her, decided to marry her. The girl was shocked by such a wish from her father and asked for help from her godmother, the Lilac Sorceress. She advised her to ask the king an unbearable task - to kill the golden donkey and give her his skin. The princess obeyed and puzzled dad. He grieved, but agreed, and soon the donkey skin lay at the feet of the princess. But the girl did not want to give up and marry her father, because this is a great sin. Therefore, again on the advice of her godmother, she put this skin on herself, smeared herself with mud and ran away from the palace at night.

In this form, she wandered around the city until good people warmed her up, taking her to work in the barnyard. She was given the nickname "Donkey Skin", she was so black and terrible. But one day she decided to transform back into a princess and, locked in her closet, knocked on the floor with a magic wand that her godmother gave her before escaping. Immediately, a chest appeared in front of her with her beautiful clothes. The girl washed, combed her hair, changed her clothes and began to show off in front of the mirror. The prince, who was visiting the owners for whom the Donkey Skin worked, accidentally saw her through the keyhole and fell in love. Returning home from the guests, he fell ill and said that he would be saved only by a cake that a girl who lived in a closet with such and such people would cook. The message was brought to the creep and ordered to bake a cake. She was delighted and, once again donning her luxurious clothes, locked herself in and began to cook. But she accidentally dropped her ring into the dough, which the prince discovered while eating the pie.

He announced that he would marry the girl who would fit the ring, regardless of whether she was a princess or a beggar. Many girls flocked to the fitting - everyone wanted to become the wife of such a handsome man. Donkey Skin was brought in by force, although she had time to change into her usual luxurious clothes when she heard a knock on her door. She threw a donkey skin over her beautiful dress and went into the palace, accompanied by laughing guards. The prince put a ring on her finger, and it fit her. Then she took off her vile skin and appeared before everyone in all her glory. Soon a wedding was played, to which the girl's father was also invited. It turned out that while his daughter was gone, he managed to marry a beautiful widow - the queen of a neighboring country, so now he was very happy for his daughter and blessed her marriage with the prince. This is how the fairy tale of Ch. Perrault “Donkey Skin” ended happily.

In a rich kingdom lived a king with a beautiful queen. They had a daughter, more beautiful than whom they did not meet in the whole state and beyond. In the stable stood a donkey that brought wealth to the kingdom - gold coins. They took great care of him.

They all lived happily until the queen fell ill. Before her death, she conveyed her last wish to the king: let him marry a woman who will be more beautiful than her.

After the death of the queen, the ministers asked the king to marry again, since the state needed an heir. But no matter how much they looked for a bride for him, they couldn't find a better queen. Once the inconsolable king looked out the window and saw his daughter - she was beautiful. The king's mind was clouded, and he decided to marry his own daughter.

The old fairy decided to help the girl get rid of this marriage. On her advice, the princess gave her father an assignment three times to make her three dresses, beautifully similar to the sky, sun and moon. And all three tasks were completed. For the fourth time, the girl, at the direction of the fairy, asked that a gray donkey be slaughtered. By order of the king, this condition was also fulfilled.

Then the princess decided to leave the palace. She put on the skin of a donkey, smeared soot on her face and set off. For a long time she could not find a refuge until the owners of the farm took her for dirty work. For her kindness and hard work, the owners fell in love with the girl, despite her repulsive appearance.

Once the prince of this kingdom came to the farm to rest after hunting. By chance, he wandered into the part of the house where the princess was sitting in a small room. Out of curiosity, the prince looked through the keyhole and saw a girl more beautiful than whom he had never met. To his question, the farmers replied that their worker lives in this room.

The prince returned home, sad and sick from anguish. The king and queen were inconsolable. They agreed to fulfill any desire of their son, if only he recovered. Then the prince asked the farm worker from the small room to bake him a cake. A servant came and gave the girl the royal order. The princess did as she was told, and put a ring in the cake. When the prince was eating the pie, he found it and ordered to find the owner of this ring. But this ring did not fit any of the girls and young women. A month later, Bluebeard told his wife that he was leaving on business for six weeks. He asked her not to be bored, to have fun, to call her friends, gave her the keys to all chambers, pantries, caskets and chests - and forbade her to enter only one small room.

His wife promised to obey him, and he left. Immediately, without waiting for the messengers, the girlfriends came running. They were eager to see all the riches of Bluebeard, but with him they were afraid to come. Now, admiring the house full of priceless treasures, the guests enviously extolled the happiness of the newlywed, but she could only think of a small room ...

Finally the woman threw the guests away and rushed headlong down the secret staircase, almost twisting her neck. Curiosity defeated fear - and the beauty opened the door with trepidation ... In the dark room, the floor was covered with caked blood, and the bodies of Bluebeard's former wives, whom he had killed, hung on the walls. In horror, the newlywed dropped the key. Picking it up, she locked the door and, trembling, rushed to her room. There, the woman noticed that the key was stained with blood. The unfortunate woman took a long time to clean the stain, but the key was magic, and the blood, wiped off from one side, came out from the other ...

Bluebeard returned that evening. His wife greeted him with ostentatious delight. The next day he demanded the keys from the poor thing. And then Rike revealed to her that she can endow her chosen one with beauty. The princess sincerely wished that Rike would become the most beautiful and amiable prince in the world - and a miracle happened!

True, some argue that it's not about magic, but about love. The princess, admiring the intelligence and loyalty of her admirer, stopped noticing his ugliness. The hump began to attach particular importance to the prince's posture, the terrible limp turned into a manner of leaning a little to one side, the slanting eyes acquired a captivating languor, and the big red nose seemed mysterious and even heroic.

Returning home, Bluebeard, seeing the blood on the key, realized that his wife had disobeyed and, seizing her, tried to cut off his head, but his wife's brothers ran into the house and stabbed him with sharp blades.

But no matter how hard the ministers tried, their persuasion did not convince the king. Finally, they bored him so much with their harassment that one day the king said to them:

I promised the late queen to marry a second time if I find a woman who is more beautiful and better than her, but there is no such woman in the whole world. Therefore, I will never marry.

The ministers were glad that the king had surrendered at least a little, and every day they began to show him portraits of the most wonderful beauties so that the king would choose a wife from these portraits, but the king said that the deceased queen was better, and the ministers left with nothing.

Finally, the most important minister came one day to the king and said to him:

King! Does your pupil seem to you both in intelligence and beauty worse than the late queen? She is so smart and beautiful that you will not find a better wife! Marry her!

It seemed to the king that his young pupil, the princess, was indeed better and more beautiful than the queen, and without refusing any more, he agreed to marry the pupil.

The ministers and all the courtiers were pleased, but the princess found it terrible. She didn’t want to be the wife of the old king. However, the king did not listen to her objections and ordered her to prepare for the wedding as soon as possible.

The young princess was desperate. She didn't know what to do. Finally she remembered the sorceress Lilac, her aunt, and decided to consult with her. That same night she went to the sorceress in a golden carriage drawn by a large old ram who knew all the roads.

The sorceress listened attentively to the story of the princess.

The sorceress Lilac came to the princess and, learning about the second failure, said to her:

And on that and the other time, the king managed to fulfill your request. Let's see if he can do it now, when you demand from him a dress that shines like the sun. He could hardly get such a dress. Anyway, we'll buy time.

The princess agreed and demanded such a dress from the king. The king without hesitation gave all the diamonds and rubies from his crown, if only the dress shone like the sun. Therefore, when the dress was brought in and unfolded, everyone immediately closed their eyes: it really shone like a real sun.

One princess was not happy. She went to her room, saying that her eyes ached from the shine, and began to cry bitterly there. The Sorceress Lilac was very saddened that all her advice had come to nothing.

Well, now, my child, ”she said to the princess,“ demand from the king the skin of his beloved donkey. He certainly won't give it to you!
