Story

This section is based on material from the Academy website

The Academy begins its history from the year as the Odessa Civil Engineering Institute. The development of industry in the south of Ukraine at the beginning of the 20th century necessitated higher technical education, namely civil engineers. Thus, in September, the City Duma decided to create in Odessa. At first it consisted of three faculties, one of which was the Faculty of Civil Engineering, which in turn included the Engineering and Hydraulic Engineering and Civil Engineering Departments.

On January 25, the commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine approved the new status of the institute - academy. By the Decree of the Council of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of April 20, 1994 and the Order of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine of May 18, 1994, on the basis of the OISI, Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (OGASA). The high level of training of specialists allowed the academy to become a member European Association of Universities, and from the year - a member International Association of Universities. This ensured the autonomy of the university, the right to independently open new specialties and scientific areas, determine the student enrollment quota, conclude contracts, manage the budget, resolve personnel issues, etc. A comprehensive renovation of scientific and laboratory equipment was carried out, computer and multimedia classrooms were created.

Over the years, the Academy has prepared more than 50 thousand professionals, more than 2000 - These are citizens of different countries of Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America. Many of the graduates of the Academy have become outstanding organizers of the construction industry, leaders in the construction of large hydraulic, industrial and aerospace facilities. Some of them became prominent statesmen in the CIS countries.
