The location of the 2nd Guards Taman Motorized Rifle Order of the October Revolution of the Red Banner Order of Suvorov Motorized Rifle Division, or military unit 23626, is the village of Kalininets, Moscow Region.

History

The Taman division was formed in Kharkov in 1940. True, then it was called the 127th Infantry Division, which participated during the Great Patriotic War as part of the Reserve, Bryansk, Baltic, Transcaucasian and other fronts, as well as the Primorsky army. For the difference in the battles near Kursk and in the Baltic zone, the unit was renamed the 2nd Guards Rifle Division, and for the liberation of Taman it was given the name Taman. After the Great Patriotic War, the formation was deployed on the Zemland Peninsula.
At the end of 1953, the unit was renamed again, but already in the 23rd Guards Mechanized Division, which received the status of a motorized rifle in 1957. At the end of 1964, "in order to preserve military traditions," as stated in the order of the USSR Ministry of Defense, the 23rd Infantry Division became the 2nd Guards Motorized Rifle Division.

Patch of the Taman division

One year after military reform In 2008, the Taman division was disbanded and the 5th motorized rifle brigade was created on its base, which inherited the battle banner and awards of the previous unit. The unit was considered experimental and belonged to the Moscow Military District, and its headquarters, better known as military unit 23626, was located in the village of Kalininets.
In early May 2013, the Taman motorized rifle division was recreated. The subdivision includes EW companies, commandant's offices, RChBZ (4th military town), repair company (1st military town), VUNA and BUAR (3rd military town) and belongs to the Western Military District.

Eyewitness impressions

The material and living conditions of service are more than good, as the soldiers themselves note. The barracks was replaced with a soldier's dormitory, the rooms of which are designed for 4-8 people. Each of them has a shower room and a bathroom, and a washing machine and a "dryer" are one per unit. In the barracks of military unit 23626, there is also a recreation room, a sports chair, a billiard room, a library and a mini-cinema.

Cockpit room

There are two dining rooms, and the subdivisions eat in the order of a two-stream queue. The food is prepared by civilian personnel, so the soldiers do not intervene in the kitchen outfits. Also on the territory of the unit there are a chipok (store "Dixie"), a first-aid post, the Garrison House of Officers, a hostel and a bath and laundry plant.
In such a unit as the Taman division, special attention is paid to the physical training of military personnel - 4 hours a day are allotted to it. Compulsory cross-country skiing is also included in the physical education classes. The classes themselves are held either on the parade ground or in one of the sports complexes. There are two of them on the territory of the unit, each has gyms, a swimming pool and a football field. FIZO soldiers visit in sports uniform.

Hall in the dining room

Combat training includes firing at the Alabino range (field trips - 2 times a week) and planned combined arms exercises. They are also held in Alabino. As for military affairs, the soldiers study not only the charter, but also acquire theoretical knowledge about the types of military weapons used in the Taman division.
An innovation for many servicemen was the obligatory afternoon nap, from 14.00 to 15.00.
Today the Taman Division is one of the few military units in Russia where it is allowed to use mobile phones. True, during training and shooting, they are off, since otherwise the mobiles are confiscated from the entire unit for 24 hours. At the time of checks, the phones are handed over to the commander of the unit: accounts in social networks, the number of incoming and outgoing calls, MMS and SMS messages are reviewed.

Household room

Among telecom operators, employees of military unit 23626 recommend choosing Megafon or MTS, and Beeline SIM cards are issued as part of the Call Mom program at the military registration and enlistment office.
There is no hazing and hazing in such a unit as military unit 23626. Daily medical and physical examinations of the soldiers are carried out. In addition, there is a psychological support service at the unit.

Soldiers do not intervene in cleaning squads - this is done by civilian personnel. But the farm day on Saturdays and the daily cleaning of the barracks remained as traditional jobs or disciplinary actions. Among the latter, additional physical activity is also used.
Conscription soldiers in a unit such as military unit 23626 receive cash subsidies on the VTB Bank card at the end of each month.

In the leisure room

In the garrison itself, in the military town and at the checkpoint there are 4 ATMs:

  • IIB: military unit 23626, at the checkpoint (open from 8.00 to 19.00);
  • VTB-24: at the checkpoint of military unit 55338 (open from 8.00 to 20.00);
  • Sberbank of Russia: in the DOS area (works around the clock);
  • SMP-Bank: near the "Products" store (open around the clock).

History

2nd Guards Rifle Division

The division traces its history back to the 2nd Guards Rifle Taman Red Banner Order of Suvorov of the MI Kalinin Division.

In September 1945, the division was redeployed from East Prussia to the Moscow Military District, to the village of Alabino, Naro-Fominsk District.

In 1947, the division included the 290th tank-self-propelled regiment and the 85th Guards Howitzer Artillery Simferopol Red Banner Orders of Suvorov, Kutuzov and Alexander Nevsky Regiment.

23rd Guards Mechanized Division

In May 1990, the 73rd and 406th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiments were returned to the numbers from the times of the Great Patriotic War - the 1st and 15th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiments, respectively, with the preservation of the honorary titles.

Separate divisions and servicemen of the division took part in the events of August 1991 and October 1993.

Also in 1992, the 283rd Guards Motorized Rifle Berlin Red Banner Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky Regiment, which was withdrawn from Germany, entered the division.

In 1999, units of the division took part in the counter-terrorist operation in the Chechen Republic as part of the United Group of Federal Forces in the North Caucasus.

Servicemen of the division took part in military parades on Red Square every year. In 1985, the 73rd motorized rifle regiment and a tank regiment participated in the parade in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Victory on May 9th. Parts of the division also took part in the parade in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Victory on May 9, 1995. In 2008, after a 13-year hiatus, units of the division participated in the May 9 parade.

5th separate guards motorized rifle brigade

In early 2016, the division became part of the newly formed 1st Guards Tank Army. On December 21, 2016, the formation of the 1st Guards Tank Chertkovsky twice Orders of Lenin, Red Banner, Orders of Suvorov, Kutuzov and Bogdan Khmelnitsky Regiment named after Marshal of Armored Forces M.E. Katukov was completed.

After the division was restored, its ceremonial crews took part in a military parade on Red Square dedicated to the anniversary of Victory Day in 2013 under the historical name. Subsequently, the division took part in parades in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

  • Important topics

This part will cover many topics.

on a variety of aspects, so I ask you to read carefully, many of your questions have been answered.

For those who have not served, or have served, but want to know how it is now, I will show you the instructions for the daily order.
Since the weather was inclement, the rain fell, turning into snow, the whole outfit took raincoats, which are still used by soldiers as protection from rain, along with the OZK

While it was raining on the parade ground, it was necessary to roll out the raincoat-tents and hide behind them. As usual, some did not take them.

As you can see, the inconsistency is present: the assistant on duty in the brigade in a parade and a camouflage jacket, one of the sergeants in a raincoat jacket, soldiers in raincoats

It can be seen that one of the soldiers in the front row in boots, asked why this is so. It turns out that all the soldiers have boots, but sometimes, if they get wet, leaky, then you can wear boots as a substitute

After collecting all the detachments from the units, a short passage in formation under the drum to the main place of instruction. Please note that the soldier listens to either the radio or music, which does not prevent him from clearly beating the rhythm))

The chief of the company (by the way, he is a contract soldier) conducts a survey of duties

Immediately I saw the instruction of the reinforcement unit, which should act in the event of an attack on a unit, for example, a gang group. Some covers on helmets are obvious homemade products, and very rough, what is the problem to fit normally - xs

Walkie-talkies on the commanders of new generation groups - R-168-e platoon level

But at the same time, the old P-159 somehow appeared there. What the heck? The riddle is great, considering that the brigade is full of R-168-0.5UM, which is designed to replace it.

Judging by the armament (AKS-74U), the reinforcement unit was recruited from a tank battalion or self-propelled gunners, which is actually strange. At the same 7th military base, the infantry was in the anti-terror and reinforcement unit.

After brief instructions from the commander

The reinforcement unit began training - individual groups took up positions at the corners of buildings, others bypassed a conventional enemy, etc. I asked the guys, and this is just for me, they are running now, the answer was that every instruction. Well then okay

Now I'll tell you about the evening verification. Due to bad weather, it was carried out after an evening walk (two laps on the parade ground with a song) at the location of the company. The chief of the company reads the list, and the soldier, hearing his name, replies: "Me!"

Then comes the command to disperse, take off your clothes and line up according to form # 1 for a physical examination. It is conducted by the company foreman and a medical instructor. Look for bruises (evidence of non-regulation), any signs of skin diseases
I took pictures of the guys standing in the ranks. There are no Dokhlyakov. Underwear is changed once a week (but it can be washed if you wish), they give out either green, new sample, or good old white pants and shirts

The camera lost focus a little, but I think you can see that there are no frail boys in the line

One of the guys complained about the temperature, the medical instructor gave me a thermometer. I accidentally noticed it, specifically asked to turn around and took a picture

Some do not part with their phones even in the ranks))

    Cool tattoos at boys

Specifically asked how often examinations are carried out, they say, is it window dressing. The foreman replied that every day, since unscheduled inspections by the prosecutor's office with exactly the same examination are very frequent. Any bruise on a soldier threatens with serious problems in the service of the commander.

Naturally, he also asked for hazing. Here the situation is as follows: in the company, all privates are of the same draft (this spring), sergeants are six months more. In addition, the entire company consists of conscripts from Moscow and the Moscow region, many soldiers see their parents every weekend, everyone has phones, so there is simply no hazing, the soldiers themselves talk about this with visible satisfaction. Unfortunately, we managed to communicate with only one subdivision on this score, as in others - a question.

I raised the issue of servicemen called up from the Caucasus. There were no such people in the company, the company commander simply did not take them to his unit, but from the conversations it was clear that there were problems with them. They say that the orderlies, for example, do not want to stand, but for the elders, please. The most intractable are sent to the guardhouse by a court decision (there are such servicemen in the battalion), but, as I understand it, this does not solve the problem. There is not a single serviceman from the battalion who is in the disbat.

Now one more important question - five days. It was widely advertised that soldiers would be released from the unit on weekends (up to 30% of payroll), even on TV there was a story about this, for this three experimental motorized rifle companies were created, recruited exclusively from Muscovites to test the innovation on them, but ... It was never launched, there are no orders regulating such dismissals, so for now there was not a single case. Nevertheless, recruits are easily released for a day if their parents come to visit, which the latter quite often use.

The territory and premises of the soldiers' hostels are cleaned by civilian personnel. 2 times a day they sweep a little, wash the central halls, stairwells, but the soldiers themselves are still cleaning their quarters (every evening the sergeant appoints cleaners from the squad). The outfits for the territory also remained, several people constantly remove garbage, rake leaves, etc.
I saw a soldier with brooms

Well, here are the girls from the civilian staff. They were very shy of the camera and just ran away, barely took a few frames

    Now the most different infa.
    - The soldiers in the company are on average 20 years old (even in Gudauta I noticed that there are almost no 18-year-old conscripts), the oldest is 24. A certain percentage of them have higher education.
    - The salary of a conscript is 430 rubles, a contract soldier is approx. 10,000, platoon commander - 14,000.
    - If the officers for the most part still receive bonuses according to the 400th order, who are called giants here (platoon commander - 34,800 rubles, company commander - 48,000, etc.), then contractors do not receive any additional bonuses, to serve near Moscow for " “few people want a gold piece, and there is no recruitment now, so there are very few contract soldiers in the brigade. In the company where I was, there are only two of them
    - payments under the 115th order (quarterly bonus) are actually not made, there was one payment in August of this year (emnip 17,000 to a contractor and 70,000 to an officer), and one last year. Why so - there is a great mystery. It's a pity I didn't meet with the chief finance officer.
    - The officers who receive bonuses under the 400th order themselves say about motivation for service (of course - a platoon in total can have 53,000, a company one - 65,000), and I understand that quite a few people receive this award. In the 1st company (mine)) out of four officers, three receive it, a "disenfranchised" - a young lieutenant who has served less than a year. The peculiarity of the accrual of the 400th order is that it is paid to those officers who served well last year, and payments go monthly this year, therefore, the lieutenant from the school is not entitled to anything.
    - All the money, whether it is to the soldiers or to the officers, is transferred to plastic cards. There are four ATMs on the territory of the unit, you can cash in them (this is not enough, there are queues). This is not bad for conscripts because parents can send a money order directly to the card.
    - The officers would very much like the return of the contractors, at least to the positions of sergeants. Easier to work and better preparedness.
    - I have already written about the free use of mobile phones. Conscripts are even given out free Beeline SIM cards with cheap tariffs.
    - The new officer's uniform ("pixel") is comfortable to wear, but after one or two washings it noticeably sheds and fades in the sun. Someone is already accustomed to shoulder straps on the "belly", someone actively does not like it. New pea jackets have not yet been issued to some of the officers, they say, the term for wearing the old ones has not yet come out, therefore pea jackets on many are still "flora".
    - For demobilization, conscripts receive from 1000 to 5000 rubles, I did not have time to find out the relationship, I suspect that it depends on the distance to the house, measured in the days of the trip.
    - The contractors are obliged to stay exclusively on the territory of the unit, even at night, if you live in the barracks. You can leave the checkpoint only from 12.00 to 14.00 and from 18.00 to 20.00. For families, if they do not live in a hostel, but rent an apartment somewhere, of course, it is not forbidden to leave for the night.
    - In the brigade there are graduates of officers' schools, who, due to an overabundance of officers in a new guise, agreed to serve in the positions of zakomvplatoons. At the same time, they wear lieutenant's shoulder straps. I haven't seen them myself.

Upon arrival at the brigade, I was told that I would live right in the barracks in the soldiers' quarters. To be honest, I did not expect this, I thought there would be a separate room.

The soldiers live in five-story dormitories, at the entrance there is an orderly. On the occasion of increased combat readiness in case of terrorist attacks - in a bulletproof vest with a helmet

I was always pinned that they always strive to equip the place of duty with an outfit in something more refined, which sometimes leads to funny curiosities. For example, in the nightstand, 2 helmets of unknown shaggy year were found, which were there, such as for the outfit to put them on in case of alarm. In reality, every soldier has a modern 6B7 helmet. Also amused by the presence of a bugle, which also no one will use.
