IN MEMORY OF A SISTER OF MERCY AND SHE RISE THE FIGHTERS IN THE ATTACK ... Lyudmila Stepanovna Kravets (born February 7, 1923, the village of Kushugum, Alexandrovsky district, Yekaterinoslavskaya province, USSR) - sanitary instructor of the 63rd Guards Rifle Regiment of the 23rd Guards Rifle 3rd Shock Army, 1st Belorussian Front), Hero Soviet Union (05/31/1945), senior reserve sergeant of the guard. In 1942 military unit , in which Lyudmila Kravets served, entered the battle on the North-Western Front. In one of the battles she was seriously wounded, but after the hospital she returned to her home unit. The most difficult thing was preserved in my memory. A group of medics settled in the dugout. Preparing to receive the wounded. And suddenly a huge explosion shook the air. What happened next - Luda does not know. She lost consciousness for a long time. The first thing that I saw when I woke up was her kerchief hanging from a tree nearby. There is not a single living soul around: comrades have died. The next morning the wounded began to arrive. Lyudmila, overcoming the pain (a splinter hit her right arm), bandaged the wounds, supported the soldiers with a warm word: - Well done! This is a soldier! - although she herself also needed help: her hand was swollen, the temperature rose. But there was no one to replace her. - Hold on! - asked the commander. And Kravets held on. I bandaged ninety-five wounded. And she bandaged them so that in the sanrota they immediately recognized her work and sent the wounded to the medical battalion without bandaging. With the last group, Kravets herself went to the medical battalion. Colleagues pulled out a splinter from her right hand, and she returned to duty. Regimental friends greeted their medical instructor joyfully. They again listened to Ukrainian songs at halts and in short breaks between battles. And it seemed to them that Lyudmila was singing them more sincerely and sincerely each time. But such respites were few. There were fierce battles with the enemy. Striking one blow harder than the other, Soviet soldiers, step by step, liberated their native land from the Nazi occupiers. There was no time to sit. The party meeting did not last long. And there was no need to prove that the place of the fearless warrior Lyudmila Kravets was in the ranks of the members of the Communist Party. Lyudmila Kravets was always with the soldiers, enjoyed universal respect, and it is not surprising that she soon headed the company's party organization. Courage and self-control have never betrayed this faithful daughter of the Motherland. Front-line newspapers wrote about her courage and courage more than once. Among the documents of Lyudmila Stepanovna there is a small newspaper clipping. “She saved dozens of lives,” was the title of the article. “Where did she get so much strength? - everyone is surprised when he learns that a little girl in one of the recent battles carried on her shoulders from under fire dozens of wounded soldiers and officers, - the note says. - During the Patriotic War, medical instructor Lyudmila Kravets saved more than a dozen lives. The motherland rewarded her for her courage and dedication. The brave girl was awarded three Orders of the Red Star and the Medal For Courage. Many soldiers remember Lyudmila with heartfelt, brotherly gratitude. " ... The Germans have entrenched themselves on an advantageous line. Party organizer Lyudmila Kravets understood that the further success of the offensive largely depended on this battle. She gathered the communists before the battle and called on them to serve as an example for non-partisans in carrying out a combat mission. The battle began early in the morning. After a strong artillery preparation, our units went to storm the enemy fortifications. - Soviet tank is on fire! someone shouted. "There are people there," thought Lyudmila and hurried to the burning car. With one of the soldiers who appeared near the tank, Kravets pulled out the wounded driver, the rest died. The tanker was unconscious. The mines fell closer and closer. The girl was wounded in the thigh. But she still arranged the tanker in a secluded place and hurried to her unit. Then Kravets learned that the unit commander was wounded. Lyudmila was not taken aback. And when she saw that our tanks went on the offensive, she roused the fighters to attack. - Forward! Forward! - heard her call. The girl's sonorous voice seemed unusual in the roar of the battle, and the stronger it sounded, the more impact it had on the fighters. The unit occupied two lines of enemy trenches and, developing the offensive, approached the farm. A small stream appeared on the way of the attackers. Trying to hold back here soviet soldiers, the enemy opened furious fire. Not a single officer remained in the company. Lyudmila understood that only decisive, immediate actions could ensure success in accomplishing the task set by the command. She was the first to wade across the stream, dragging the fighters along with her. And the area is open, extremely unprofitable for the attackers. It was difficult to move forward, I had to fight for every piece of land. Hot fighters boldly went to battle with the enemy and in hand-to-hand combat captured part of the farm. They did not immediately believe at the command post that this battle was led by a modest girl - senior sergeant Lyudmila Stepanovna Kravets. And when they were convinced, they were nominated for the highest award. ... In Berlin, the fighting was even more fierce. The enemy fiercely resisted, firing from every window, basement, and attic. “The Nazis are setting up a mortar behind the house,” the company commander said. “We could have destroyed it, but we don't have a single grenade. Lyudmila understood this as an order to get them. She was not absent for a long time. Soon she returned with the loot. Nobody asked where the grenades came from. But everyone knew that they were not easy for her. The fascist mortar, together with the calculation, took off into the air.,. The Victory Day was approaching. Lyudmila Kravets had to celebrate it in the hospital: shortly before the end of the war, she received the fifth wound. How did Lyudmila meet with her relatives and friends after her recovery with her fellow soldiers, who shortly before learned the good news: the medical instructor of the 1st rifle battalion of the 63rd guards rifle regiment of the Riga 23rd guards rifle regiment Dnovskaya, fearless in the fight against the enemy red Banner Division 3rd Shock Army Lyudmila Stepanovna Kravets was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. ... Quiet green Volodarsky street in Zaporozhye. There is a beautiful stone house in the back of the yard. Around apple, plum, pear. Under one of the spreading trees, we talked with the owner of the house - Lyudmila Stepanovna Kravets. She introduced us to her husband, a friend of the war years, Vladimir Nikolaevich Ledvin, now a normalizer at a weight repair plant. Helpers grow up in the family - Valery and Irina. They were born after the war, and it is good that they did not have a chance to hear the sirens of the battle alarm, the hum of enemy aircraft, deafening bomb explosions. But they know that there was a war, that mom and dad were at the front, that mom was wounded and shell-shocked more than once. And if Lyudmila Stepanovna is sick (the war years are affecting), the children take care of many of the concerns. Lyudmila Stepanovna loves to be among people - in schools, clubs, parks. She talks about the heroic struggle soviet people during the war against fascism, calls on young people to take care of what their fathers and mothers have won, to fight for peace on the whole planet. On April 17, 1945, in the battles on the outskirts of Berlin, she replaced the out-of-order company commander and, by personal example, attracted the fighters to perform the combat missions assigned to the unit. She took part in street battles in Berlin and evacuated the wounded from the battlefield under enemy fire. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 6740) Lyudmila Stepanovna Kravets was awarded on May 31, 1945. After the war, L.S. Kravets lived in her hometown of Zaporozhye and Kiev. She did a lot of work on the military-patriotic education of young people. The only woman of the 23rd Guards Rifle Division to be awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. 5 Wounds Hero of the Soviet Union (May 31, 1945) Order of Lenin 3 Orders of the Red Star Order of the Patriotic War I degree Medal "For Courage" commemorative and commemorative medals of 1945 ... Lyudmila Stepanovna Kravets will remember that terrible day for life. It was March 14, 1943 on the territory of the Novgorod region. The battalion of the 874th Infantry Regiment of the 282nd Division, which included Lyudmila, the medical officer of the regiment's medical and sanitary company, went to storm Staraya Russa. In order to be unnoticed and to strike at the enemy with a surprise blow, the unit made its way through a vast peat bog. And, as it turned out, it was in vain - when approaching the shore, I was ambushed. During the two-hour battle, many were killed and wounded. While providing medical assistance to the commander of the second company, senior lieutenant Alexei Kurbanov, Lyudmila received a severe leg injury. She remembers how a terrible pain pierced her body and she lost consciousness. As if in a dream I heard shooting sounding at a distance and next to someone the words of Kurbanov addressed to someone: "First take it out, and then you will crawl after me!" ... As it turned out later, these words were said to his contact. The girl did not remember anything else. Consciousness returned to her when she was on the operating table in a field army hospital. The doctor who examined her told his assistant to write down the following diagnosis in the girl's medical history: "The patient's condition is serious - wound of both legs and right arm with damage to the bones." What the doctor said upset her greatly. She knew that she was badly injured, but did not think that to such an extent. But this, as it turned out, recalls Lyudmila Stepanovna, was not so depressing compared to what awaited her ahead. "The girl has gas gangrene," the doctor reported to the head of the hospital who entered the ward. "Both lower extremities are subject to amputation." The terrible news, as if in a battle from a machine gun, struck her a second time. Everything that she dreamed of, what she had lived until now, suddenly faded, as if a veil had been hidden by misfortune. in tears ... At that time of the Komsomol, Lyudmila was in her twenties. When the nurse approached to prepare her for the operation, the girl, weak and at the same time, as far as she could, said in a decisive voice: "Tell the doctors - I'd rather die with my feet than suffer all my life without them. I don’t want to live without legs! "When the alarmed nurse told the head of the hospital the words of the grief-stricken wounded, he, thinking, said that he would undertake to operate on her himself." Go and calm down, tell me that I will try to do everything to save her life and legs. " "he concluded. The woman happily told this news to Lyudmila, and also said that Mikhail Lvovich Dunaevsky, the head of the hospital, is an excellent surgeon and a man. That this is so, Lyudmila soon became convinced from her own experience. The operation was successful. The foci of gas gangrene through the efforts of doctors" The damaged parts of the bones were reanimated. For her, Dunaevsky managed to get a medicine, which was in short supply at that time - penicillin, at the medical warehouse. , serious wounds healed slowly. Finally the time came when the attending physician Varvara Dementyevna Sokolova, into the ward, by all means suggested to get up, and later to move. So, step by step, like a child, Lyudmila again learned to walk. The lust for life and the irrepressible desire to re-enter the military formation forced the medical instructor to train intensely, to the point of exhaustion. Knowing the girl's desire to return to the front, the attending physician encouraged her actions. Moreover, taking a sin on her soul, she, bypassing the commission, made the conclusion herself: "Fit for a drill." Then there was a service in the reserve regiment, where the girl was sent. And when she realized that, despite the still pain in her legs, she could travel considerable distances, she again asked to go to the front. Since April 1944, Lyudmila Kravets was a medical instructor of a company, first of the 68th, then of the 63rd Guards Rifle Regiments. She's at the forefront again. Takes part in the liberation of Belarus, the Baltic States, Poland. As before, he hurries to the aid of the wounded, carries them out with weapons from the battlefield. And in the short hours of calm, the gathering soldiers sings songs, especially Ukrainian ones, talks about his native land, about interesting episodes from the books she read, about how she got to the front ... L. S. Kravets was born on March 14, 1923 in the town of Kushugum, near Zaporozhye. She grew up in the family of a railway worker. After finishing the 7th grade, she entered a two-year medical school. She dreamed of studying at a medical institute, becoming a doctor, but all plans were changed by the war. June 30, 1941 Lyudmila passed the last exam, received a diploma and asked to go to the front. Her friends followed her example. On July 2, she was admitted to the Berdyansk evacuation hospital. He soon relocated to Omsk. And there the girl did not stop asking for the active army. Only after the third report was she sent to the 282nd Siberian Division of the North-Western Front. Private Kravets received her first medal "For Courage" for completing a special assignment. At night, accompanied by sappers, she, who knows a little German, was led through a minefield, in which she had to very well remember the way back. In a previously prepared trench in a no-man's land, closer to the enemy positions, she waited for the dawn to come. In the morning, through the megaphone, I read a leaflet addressing the German soldiers in a loud voice and remained in the trench for the whole day until dark. I had to get pretty cold - in those days there were severe frosts. A few days later, the regiment's headquarters reported that, under the influence of the address read, 29 German soldiers surrendered. In the spring of 1945, guard sergeant Lyudmila Kravets fought in Germany. Its 63rd Riga Red Banner Guards Regiment, located on the Kyustrinsky bridgehead, after a powerful artillery preparation, went on the offensive on April 16. The attack was swift, and the enemy began to retreat. However, in the evening, before reaching the embankment of the railway, which ran from the Sietzing station to the south-west, the regiment's divisions met organized resistance from the enemy. The regiment commander, Colonel N. Emelyantsev, decided to gain a foothold on the occupied line, and then seize the railway embankment by a night attack. During the night battle, from the soldiers who were advancing to the railway line, Lyudmila Kravets learned that the company commander and other officers were out of action. She, as the party organizer of the company, without hesitation, took command over herself. Lyudmila Stepanovna says that she stood up to her full height and shouted: "Company, listen to my command! For the Motherland! Forward!" The first rushed through a small canal filled with water, dragging the fighters with her. The platoons rose together and rushed to the positions of the Nazis. The archive contains an entry made in the combat log of the 63rd Guards Rifle Regiment for April 17, 1945. : "During the attack, the commander, whose company was the leader, was out of action. The company's sanitary officer, Senior Sergeant L. Kravets, took command, selflessly and proactively, with knowledge of the matter, carried out the attack, took possession of the railroad track and burst into the southern outskirts of Sitzing, where she established herself and organized a perimeter defense. " During street battles in Berlin, Lyudmila, under hurricane enemy fire, provided first aid to the victims, evacuated them, and was wounded herself - this was the fifth in a row. She refused the hospital, was treated in a medical-sanitary battalion, where she met the long-awaited Victory. There, on May 31, 1945, she was happy to learn about her being awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. For military services Lyudmila Kravets was awarded the Orders of Lenin, the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, three Orders of the Red Star, the Ukrainian Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky 3rd degree, medals "For Courage", "For the Liberation of Warsaw", "For the capture of Berlin" and others awards. In 1946, for health reasons, she retired from the army. In 1947, she again had to undergo a serious operation in the head area. Affected by the consequence of a severe concussion in 1943. And again there were years of hard struggle with the disease. All this time, next to Lyudmila Stepanovna was her husband - a faithful friend of the war years Vladimir Nikolaevich. Together they raised and raised two children - Valeria and Irina. The grandson has become an adult, the great-granddaughter is growing up. After the war, the Heroine lived for many years in her native places - in Zaporozhye, then in Kiev.

On December 5, Moscow celebrates the Day of Military Glory. Exactly 74 years ago, the Red Army launched a counteroffensive in the battle of Moscow. But during all this time, the veterans did not receive about half a million awards for military merit. The Defense Ministry decided to fix this and organized a joint project with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

There should be at least three more medals on her chest. For the capture of Berlin, the liberation of Prague and the victory over Germany. They were awarded back in the 45th year to 22-year-old Olya Alekseeva, and Olga Dmitrievna, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, receives them shortly before her 93rd birthday.

She spent 2 years 11 months and 4 days at the front. He says - do not believe those who claim that it was not scary. Everybody was afraid, every minute. And she prepared the planes for battle with fear, because she did not know if she would see those whom she sent to the sky again.

"Hang up bombs - two bombs of 250 kg, on winches, loaded and cleaned machine guns. There are 3 machine guns, 2 cannons and 2 missiles in the plane. We fully armed them. Girls, we cried all the time. Who would not return from a mission ... The planes are flying, we think - oh, one is not. And this war lasted for us, it seemed, for centuries. And we thought when it would end, "Olga Dmitrievna recalls.

She reached Berlin, but after the war she could not prove that her regiment participated in the capture of the city. And although they issued a certificate of the medals awarded, in order to receive them, other documents were needed, and they were classified for a long time. For various reasons, thousands of awards from the times of the Great Patriotic War remained unreceived. In order for them to finally find their heroes, a special project was launched about a year ago. Defense Ministry officials and Rossiyskaya Gazeta journalists are examining archives, checking names, dates and looking for those who have not received their orders and medals.

"Awards to living front-line soldiers this year came to the city of Kazan, the Order of Glory III degree to machine gunner Vasily Gorbunov. The order of the Red Star was received by a tanker in the Rostov region. Veterans in Novosibirsk and Smolensk received medals, and the other day the former intelligence officer received a medal" For Courage ", she lives in the city of Maykop, "says Alexander Emelyanenkov, a columnist for Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

The website of the "Stars of Victory" project contains information about more than 24 thousand unreceived awards. These are only those about which the information has already been verified one hundred percent. If the heroes are not alive, according to the law, the relatives are handed not the award itself, but a certificate signed by the president of the country. Two of these at once - for the Order of the Red Star and the medal "For Military Merit", will now be carefully kept in the Timoshchenko family. The veteran's children and grandchildren came to the ceremony in Moscow.

In total, according to historians' estimates, there are several hundred thousand orders and medals deserved during the Great Patriotic War, but not received. And every year there are fewer and fewer veterans who can be given them. That is why the emotions of those who managed, albeit late, to receive their awards are priceless.

On this page, we have collected resources that will help you find a soldier (deceased relative or friend), search for those killed and missing in the Great Patriotic War.

In the personal database of unreceived awards "Stars of Victory" - the sixth and largest replenishment in three years of work: from that day, 15,301 more records about the Orders of Glory III degree, which for various reasons were not awarded to the front-line soldiers, are available for search.

By wartime standards, these are two newly formed divisions. Or three or four who have been in combat. Taking into account the fact that it was uploaded earlier (50,542 personal records), now in our project, confirmed information about 65,843 non-awarded awards of the Great Patriotic War is open for search.

This time, our partners - employees of the Central Archive of the Russian Ministry of Defense (TsAMO) - conducted a reconciliation of information about those awarded the Order of Glory III degree, whose surnames begin with the letters G, D, E, I, K, L and M. Among those who were awarded, but the order could not be presented - the scout-observer of the 871 light artillery regiment, corporal Ivan Labutin. And next to them, in the same alphabetical list, are two namesakes: Victor and Georgy.

Ivan Labutin was presented to the Order of Glory of the III degree for heroism shown in the January battles of 1945 for the city of Lyubava. The brave scout, as stated in the award list, was the first to break into the territory occupied by the enemy and destroyed 17 Nazis. He managed to take six more prisoners. A little later, moving deeper into the city, he "just in time noticed a machine-gun nest on the roof of the house and threw grenades at it."

Private Viktor Labutin, like his namesake Ivan, was also awarded for the initiative and courage shown during the capture of the settlement. And Georgy Labutin, who served as an artilleryman, was awarded the Order of Glory for quickly and competently performing his duties. As a result, the counter-offensive of the enemy was stopped by the rapid fire of our artillery.

As shown by a thorough check carried out by the TsAMO staff, Ivan, Victor and Georgy Labutins mentioned here, for various reasons, did not receive their Orders of Glory. And there are a million or so such military destinies.

And in today's case, the arithmetic is like this. Let's multiply 15 300 destinies (plus one) by the number of relatives and friends of these front-line soldiers, add the families of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and it will become clear: new entries in the Victory Stars database provide a unique opportunity for hundreds of thousands of Russians and residents of foreign countries to find important information about their relatives, friends, neighbors, fellow villagers, countrymen, colleagues, comrades in arms of their grandfather or father ...

Recall: the Order of Glory was established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on November 8, 1943. By its status and color, the ribbon almost completely repeated one of the most revered soldiers' awards in pre-revolutionary Russia - the St. George Cross. It was awarded solely for personal merit, or, to be more precise, for bravery, courage and fearlessness shown in battle. The order had three degrees, it was awarded only to front-line soldiers and sergeants of the Red Army (in aviation they were also awarded to those who had the rank of junior lieutenant).
